Scientists Create a Better Mouse, a Super Mouse Print E-mail

Scientists at Case Western Reserve University have created a Super Mouse that can run faster and longer, lives longer, eats more, weighs less and can have sex into old age and use fatty acids as a source of energy.  Despite statements that this research wasn’t done to improve human performance, ultimately you can bet that a tremendous effort will be made to apply this feat genetic engineering to athletes.

Food Isn?t Medicine; Food is Food, Medicine is Medicine Print E-mail

There’s a popular movement that promotes food as medicine, and that this approach will help people eat, and be, healthier.  Personal trainers and diet gurus who promote this viewpoint are wrong. “Food as Medicine” is just another misguided philosophy that gives entire categories of food a negative connotation and makes eating a joyless experience.

England is the fattest nation in the European Union (EU) and as a result Professor Julian LeGrand, England’s Chairman of Health has proposed that a mandatory exercise hour be provided at the workplace.  It’s 1984 in 2007.

Shows like “The Biggest Loser,” magazines like “Shape,” the vast majority of diet books and information that’s disseminated on the web and in the media place way too much emphasis on weight loss.  For most folks losing weight should be viewed as the sometimes result of living a healthy lifestyle, not the reason for living a healthy lifestyle.
